The Australian tour of the 'Beauty of Tibet' Painting and Photography Exhibition began in the Chinese Embassy in Canberra, ACT,  on May 29, 2013.  This  important  Exhibition is organised jointly by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the China Tibet Online (Tibet.cn), and the Shanghai Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese. The Co-organisers are: ACPPRC (which stands for Australian Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China), and the New South Wales Parliament Asia-Pacific Friendship Group.

The theme of this Exhibition is the harmonious beauty of Tibet. Peace and  Harmony is the core of China’s traditional culture and our political philosophy. It is also an important basic principle of China's Tibetan policy and its administration of Tibetan affairs. Tibet’s beauty is unparalleled—due to its pristine mountains and lakes, its unique high altitude flora and fauna. A harmonious and beautiful Tibet is one of the objectives of the Government of the Autonomous Region of Tibet in developing its economy and society.

This Exhibition presents 140 collections of paintings by young Tibetan artists, and 140 photographic works by photographers from China and abroad. The Paintings offer an impression of Tibet, while the photographs show real life in Tibet.

This Exhibition demonstrates comprehensively, after 60 years of persistent hard work, the enormous improvement in Tibet, this land on the roof of the World. This Exhibition shows the Tibetan cultural heritage, religions and beliefs, environmental protection measures, and other social progress. It shows that the Tibetan people together with all other people in China have increasingly reaped enormous benefits from the economic reform and opening up policies. Through this Exhibition, you can see the Tibetan people have closely followed the people of the rest of the country are working tirelessly to build a modern socialist society that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced and harmonious, which is the  'Dream of China'.

By bringing this exhibition to you, we aim to offer an opportunity to our friends in Australia who are interested in Tibet but have not yet visited Tibet. We also offer an opportunity for you to have direct exchanges with Tibetan scholars and artists.  Arts  reflects reality. It is a window to look back in at reality.
